Shirley Jean Kunkel

Shirley Jean Kunkel, 65, of Du Quoin, passed away at 6:30 A.M., Friday, January 17, 2003 at St. Louis University Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri.
Shirley was a nurses aide and had worked at Marshall Browning Hospital for twenty-three years.  She was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ in Du Quoin, Women's Fellowship of the church, and Quilters of St. John's Church.
She was born July 29, 1937 at Perry County, IL, the daughter of Eugene Clarence and Dora May (Heberer) Kellerman.
She married William F. Kunkel on July 12, 1958 at St. John's United Church of Christ in Du Quoin and he survives.
She is survived by her husband of Du Quoin, two daughters - Lyla Kozuszek and husband Bernie of Pinckneyville and Shelly Huggins and husband Steve of Herrin, one sister-  Marilyn Norris of Washington, DC, and grandchildren - Philip, Brian and Stefanie Kozuszek and Will and Taylor Huggins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and one grandson - Patrick Kozuszek.
Funeral services were at 10:30 A.M., Tuesday, January 21, 2003 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Rev. Paul Schultz officiating.
Friends called from 5 to 8 P.M., Monday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.
Interment was in the Sunset Memorial Park at Du Quoin.
